“Mala Bèstia” premieres today, July 31

July 31, 2026

Today, July 31, Mala Bèstia, Bàrbara Farré’s debut feature film, hits theaters after kicking off its run in the Official Selection at the Málaga Film Festival, where it was first presented to the public and industry professionals.

At Metropolitana, we’ve had the privilege of being part of this film project by handling the film’s color grading—a task carried out by our colorist Marc Morató, with support from Metropolitana’s color and production departments. Color grading has been a key element in shaping the film’s visual identity, complementing the director’s narrative vision and enhancing the cinematography of Lucas Casanovas, the film’s director of photography.

We are proud to have collaborated on Bàrbara Farré’s feature film debut, which comes after a solid track record as a director of short films, commercials, music videos, and television drama. With Mala Bèstia, Farré crafts a story that blends drama and fable-like elements to explore themes such as the fear of abandonment, the need to belong, and the difficult transition into adulthood.

The film stars Maria Schwinning, Iria del Río, and Roger Casamajor, and was written by Bàrbara Farré alongside Alberto Dexeus. It is produced by Mimosa Produce, Sumendi Filmak, Lágrima Films, Kabak Films Studio, and Mamma Team Productions, with distribution by A Contracorriente Films.

For Metropolitana, participating in projects like Mala Bèstia means continuing to strengthen our commitment to feature films and to post-production work that views color as a narrative tool capable of enhancing the atmosphere, emotion, and personality of each story.

Starting today, Mala Bèstia is now playing in theaters. Congratulations to the entire team that made this film possible, and thank you for trusting Metropolitana to be part of this journey.
